I began my writing career in 2004 with publication of the nonfiction book Austin, Texas: Then and Now. After two more nonfiction works, I decided to start making stuff up, starting with the historical fiction novel Lamar's Folly.
Following a political farce and a stand-alone thriller, I wrote Blunt Force Trauma, book 1 in the Adam Cash mystery series. I intend to stay focused on Cash for the foreseeable future.

From 2013 to 2017 or so, I was doing well as a Spanish-into-English translator, but machine translation (AI) all but killed that industry, so by 2019 I started writing books, like Lee Child, my literary idol, who found himself without work at about the same age. Thus far, I haven't done quite as well as he has.
